It seems appropriate to share at least a little about myself, since a blog is all about sharing information, so here goes.
As you can tell, I'm not a professional writer, by any means. However, I love to teach and share information about my favorite subjects. I teach flute/piccolo when I can find the time to recruit students and can find a place to teach. In a more casual way, I've taught a few people to crochet or tat.
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the '60's and '70's. After I got married, we stayed there until the late '80's, at which time we moved to Fort Hood, TX for seven years. We took a detour to Melbourne, Australia for a year, then came home to California. We again lived in the SF Bay Area until September 2010, when we moved to SoCal to be near my husband's family.
I learned to crochet as a child. I was in a Christian girls' club hosted by my church, and one of the church ladies taught us all to make granny squares, which she took and made into a lap robe for an elderly church member.
Since I also learned to embroider at about that same time, and I play the flute, my manual dexterity is quite good, so I never have any qualms about learning new needlework techniques that interest me. Since the one thing I could never teach myself from a book was Tatting, I always kept an eye out for a teacher. While in Australia, I found a tatting teacher at a local community center, and I have been tatting ever since.
As time goes by, I hope to fill my blog with fun and interesting bits about crochet, tatting, embroidery, and maybe a few other subjects. I do promise that all content I add to my blog will be appropriate for all ages - no adult content. Although my son is a grown man now, I have a lot of respect for other parents' concerns about what their children are seeing. I know that if it had been available when I was a child, I would have scoured the Internet for crochet help, patterns, and ideas. Therefore, I will do all in my power to keep my blog safe for everyone, even younger children.
I cannot control the exact ads that appear on my blog. However, if at any time you can prove that an inappropriate advertisement has appeared on any of my pages, I will terminate my relationship with that ad provider, as I do have control over who puts ads on my blog.
